Background and Purpose of Request
Staff have been reviewing the goals and operation of the County’s Regional Fire and EMS Program after the departure of the County Regional Fire and EMS Coordinator this summer. To promote the effective operation of the program, staff recommends amending the Advisory Committee Bylaws.
The proposed changes have been developed in coordination with the County’s Regional Fire and EMS Advisory Committee. Members of the Advisory Committee expressed interest in establishing staggered terms for Committee members to promote program stability and the transfer of institutional knowledge. Staff also recommend eliminating the term limit cap for similar reasons and to ensure engaged members can continue serving on the committee. Other proposed changes include eliminating the “/” from the Committee’s title to address accessibility and website design issues, clarifying the timing requirements for calling and holding meetings, and aligning the bylaws with the County’s remote meeting policy.
