Background and Purpose of Request
The town of Cumberland is in the process of making upgrades to their radio infrastructure located on the Eagles Nest Rd Tower in Gray. The Counties new radio infrastructure project has similar equipment in leu of duplicating the County of Cumberland and the town of Cumberland have agreed to share some equipment and costs that both agree are in the best interests of local and county tax payers.
The county currently pays Litchfield Tower:
July 1st 2026 - November 30th 2026 - $41,356.45
December 1st 2026 - June 30th 2027 - $60,794.02
Total annual 2027: $102,150.47
Total FUTURE Cumberland (town) annual rent to the county: $9,600.00
The Town of Cumberland will replace the existing batteries at the site with industry approved lithium batteries, significantly cutting the Counties liability in the future to outfit this site.
In 2024, the County Commissioners voted on a similar agreement between the County and the Town of Baldwin on the WMTW tower.
Funding Amount and Source
Revenue $800.00 per month for the first 12 months Commencing one (1) year from the date the town begins making site cost sharing payments, the monthly payment shall be increased annually by 3% from the preceding year.
Effective Date
One year from the effective date of this agreement, or upon installation of shared equipment.
