body

Background and Purpose of Request

As we observe National Law Enforcement Week from May 10-16, 2026, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your unwavering commitment to our communities.

Their dedication is reflected in the Sheriff’s Office's prestigious status as one of only six law enforcement agencies in Maine to earn CALEA accreditation. This achievement is a testament to the high professional standards the department lives by. While the challenges of law enforcement continue to grow, the individuals representing the department consistently step up to keep Cumberland County safe.

Beyond patrolling roads and investigating crimes, their active participation in schools and regional activities demonstrates their role as vital members of our community fabric and good stewards of the badge.

Thank you for your service and dedication. You continue to make Cumberland County a safe place to live, work, and play.
